My Dining Place is a restaurant featuring Singaporean cuisine, with also some Cantonese dishes. Located in Xujiahui’s Novel Place, My Dining Place is operated by the same group from the Singapore Pavilion Expo restaurant from the 2010 Shanghai Expo.
My Singaporean and Malaysian friends have raved how My Dining Place has arguably the best Malaysian & Singaporean cuisine in Shanghai. Who am I to argue. I have very little experience is these dishes.
The decor is a little more than adequate, yet nicely spacey. The contemporary white theme is accented through the restaurant. Our group was seated on the 2nd floor, with the large floor to ceiling windows. I liked the large amount of natural light.
Mr. C, lead our group by ordering a smattering amount of dishes. The showcase main dish was the 星洲辣椒螃蟹 Singapore Chilli Crab. It was more sweet than spicy. The 咖喱鱼头煲 Fish Head Curry and 招牌咖喱鸡 Signature Curry Chicken was also quite good. I like the simple curry chicken. 马来串烧 Grilled Satay was a favorite by most of my dining friends and their kids. I also liked the 香炸馒头 Deep-Fried Mantou. This is a simple universal Chinese dish.
For good Singaporean food without the fancy decor, I suggest My Dining Place.
