The Fat Olive, Shanghai

Is it any wonder that Greek cuisine is considered among the most healthy dishes? Nothing too greasy, not too many things deep fried, and almost everything is prepared with olive oil.

At Fat Olive, David Laris’s Greek restaurant, his menu is based on his Greek heritage. Fat Olive, with three locations – Xizang South Road, Sinan Mansions and Pudong’s Expo Village, strives for traditional Greek dishes with quality ingredients. The Xizang South Road location, features the one of the best skyline views of Shanghai looking toward Pudong. The Sinan Mansions spot situated with other David Laris ventures, like Funky Chicken, 12 Chairs, and (one of my favorites)Yucca. The newest location – at the the Expo village, features a large dining room with a long wine bar.

On my visit to the Expo Village location, I took advantage of the The Wufantuan Deal. For RMB 168, typically RMB 546, we got a bottle of wine, pita bread with hummus, a greek salad, and greek sampler platter. This meal was light and filling, but we didn’t feel over stuffed. I enjoyed the different selections of Greek foods.

We are fortunate to be in Shanghai to have so many different types of cuisines, like Greek cuisine of the Fat Olive. I’d argue that Shanghai has one of the most diverse selections of Asian, European, and even Western and Latin cuisines. More than most cities.

Perhaps one of the best outdoor lounges/restaurants in all of Shanghai

I got lucky and picked an excellent night. Cool weather with some cool lighting.

I kinda wish we choose to sit up on the top middle booth. Kinda neat

This location has a larger and longer bar.
